Newport City Council implements Radius Financials debtors solution

15 July 2003, Feltham.

Granted city status to mark the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, Newport City Council is the first major town in Wales along the M4 corridor. Traditionally known as a busy port and steel town, Newport is currently the most successful location in the country for attracting high tech industry.

Having been a Radius customer since 1988, Newport took the decision to stay with the Debtors module of Radius Financials running on an ICL mainframe when the Authority moved to Oracle Financials in the mid-nineties. Ann Joyner of Newport said: “We had received excellent support and service from Radius over the years and the product provided the functionality we wanted, so we saw no reason to change.”

However in 2002, when the Council finally decided it was time to part company with the ICL mainframe, the natural progression for Newport was to upgrade to the Radius Financials Powersolve Debtors and RadiusARMS Legal Debt Recovery modules. This again provides a Local Government-specific debtors application plus the sophistication of cradle-to-grave integrated recovery. The system went live on schedule in April 2003 following full conversion of the existing debtors data.

Mrs Joyner commented: “Radius has always understood the requirements of Local Government in area of sundry debtors and their software continues to deliver what we require. The new software brings this up-to-date and gives us the added dimension of legal debt recovery. Newport is therefore pleased to continue to be a Radius customer.”
